If you have an insurance question, please email Aidan at aidan@campcanada.ca.
How long am I covered for?
Camp Canada provides a 10-week (70 days) comprehensive medical insurance to every participant through On Call International. This insurance is very comprehensive and should cover most injuries/illnesses that can occur at camp.
As a precaution, we would advise you to download and print your insurance card should you need any medical assistance whilst you are away. This will make can be accessed via your MyInsurance account.
What is covered as part of my health insurance?
The policy does not cover flights, baggage, or cancellations - it is purely health insurance. Some participants choose to take out their own travel and flight insurance.
To see what the medical insurance will cover, you can find the fully policy on your MyInsurance account. Here, this will outline what will be covered. We would advise that you read through it fully, so you know what you will be covered for.
How do I make a claim?
To make a claim, you will need to download and complete the medical claim form which can be accessed here.
After this is completed, attach your medical claim form in an email alongside a document with some information detailing what happened during your medical emergency incident, the medical centre you attend and every medical appointment you have had. Also, please ensure to attach all documents and receipts you have received from the medical centre during your visits.
Once you have all of these items, send your claim to mail@oncallinternational.com.
Will my health insurance policy cover the expenses upfront, or will I be responsible for the initial payment and then seek reimbursement?
In case of a medical emergency or to schedule an appointment, contact the On Call Global Response Centre at +1(855)521-6816. They will facilitate payment of your medical expenses.
If you are unable to call the On Call Global Response Centre, you may be required to pay the medical fees upfront meaning you will need to claim these back once you are discharged from the facility. If you choose to make your own appointment and pay for the medical expenses yourself, you can submit a claim for reimbursement consideration.
Can I extend my health insurance?
If your trip is longer than 70 days, additional coverage can be purchased at $3 CAD/day on your MyInsurance account or you can take out your own policy. You must have medical insurance coverage for the full duration of your camp contract, and we highly recommend covering the full duration of your travels if you plan on travelling after camp.
